Ludwigsen, Will
Entry updated 12 September 2022. Tagged: Author.
(1973- ) US author who began to publish work of genre interest with "Cthulhu Fhtagn, Baby!" in Weird Tales for Spring 2002; it became the title story of his first collection, Cthulhu Fhtagn, Baby! and Other Cosmic Insolence (coll 2006), where most of his early work appears. As with the first, some of the stories assembled in his second collection, In Search Of and Others (coll 2013), reach eloquently (and comically) for Horror in SF effects, sometimes evincing wry homages to the work of H P Lovecraft. Though Ludwigsen cannot be described as an sf writer in any traditional sense – a story like "The Speed of Dreams" (March 2010 Asimov's) being, for instance, a parody-with-love of the Thought Experiment – his work clearly breathes the air of twenty-first century Fantastika.
