(1971- ) Australian author, partner of James Bradley; her first novel Coldwater (2001), written for adults, is nonfantastic, as is The Snow Queen (2004); she has also written fantasy for relatively young readers, She is of sf interest for the Young Adult Quest of the Sunfish sequence beginning with Escape to the Moon Islands (2017; vt The Flooded Earth 2018), set in a moderately distant Near Future Earth, some time after catastrophic flooding, due to Weather Control gone wrong, has transformed the planet. The young protagonists embark on a Fantastic Voyage across this worldwide Archipelago in search of their scientist father, pursued by the inimical ruling Admiralty anxious to weaponize (see Weapons) his research into the Scientific Errors that provoked the planetary Disaster. But the Dystopian tyranny now dominant may be persuaded to relax its grip. [JC]
