(1966- ) Canadian filmmaker, broadcaster and author who is of sf interest for the Rabbits series of Near Future novels beginning with Rabbits (2021), set in a complex Cyberspace-like Virtual Reality Zone dominated by the eponymous highly immersive Videogame, the structure of which is beginning to contort the outer world so that if conforms to the game-ish Paranoias within. Its representation of Online Worlds' normal compulsion to attempt to transform the real into the literally storyable is, at the lowest possible common denominator of such a marriage, conveyed here. The Quiet Room (2023), partially set in a world where the game does not exist, lacks any plausible dimension of the real to shape its protagonists' Perceptions and course forward.
