(1924-1964) Australian journalist and author, active in Fandom around the period of World War Two. His sf included two series: the Ape of God sequence, comprising Ape of God (1943 chap) and Monster at Large (1943 chap), which retells Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1818) in an Australian setting (see also Frankenstein Monster); plus the Radio Record series, comprising The Stratosphere Patrol (1943 chap), Spaceward Ho! (1944 chap) and The Three Rocketeers (1944 chap), in which Captain Lon Wynter and his companions fly newly invented aircraft (see Invention) and encounter Aliens from Venus. Of Molesworth's singletons, Blinded They Fly (1951 chap) plays in part on the works of Charles Fort, and Let There Be Monsters! (1952 chap) is a tale involving Mutants. Molesworth also wrote An Outline History of Australian Fandom I., 1935-1940 (1953 chap; exp vt A History of Australian Fandom, 1935-1963 1980). [JC]
