Monsterama
Entry updated 15 August 2017. Tagged: Publication.
Letter-size saddle-stapled Cinema magazine printed on slick paper. Published by Fantagraphics Books. Edited by Forrest J Ackerman. Two numbered issues, each dated on contents page though not cover: Spring [March] 1991 and Spring [February] 1992.
This short-lived effort by Forrest J Ackerman was his second attempt to return to Media Magazine publishing after the demise of the long-running Famous Monsters of Filmland, the first having been his unhappy experience with FJA's Monsterland (which see). Internally, Monsterama consisted largely of numerous black-and-white photos of vintage film stars reproduced from Ackerman's past film magazines. It proved a swift failure and is little remembered today. Some sources credit Brad Linaweaver as co-editor; he was a contributor to the extent that Monsterama #2 began a never-completed serialization of his novelette "The Lon Chaney Factory" (in When The Black Lotus Blooms, anth 1990, ed Elizabeth A Sanders).
