(1903-1987) US SF Magazine editor who also published two stories beginning with "Blood on the Goose" in The Mysterious Wu Fang for September 1935. His magazine credits include Astonishing Stories (seven issues, November 1941 to April 1943), the companion publication Super Science Stories (seven issues, January 1941 to May 1943) and several issues of Adventure from August 1954 to August 1964. Anonymously he edited the three bimonthly numbers of Captain Zero (November 1949 to March 1950).
Norton was also associated with Sam Moskowitz for a number of genre reprint Anthologies, either in collaboration or more often with Norton given sole credit for compilations assembled by Moskowitz alone, beginning with The Award Science Fiction Reader (anth 1966) [see Checklist below]; other such titles are chiefly Horror or Fantasy. The sf anthology Futures Unlimited (anth 1969) uniquely appears to have been edited by Norton alone. [DRL]
