(1929-2004) Swedish fantasy author who served in the Swedish Air Force and later lived in France; best known for work set in the Heroic Fantasy universe of Robert E Howard's barbarian warrior Conan. These Sequels by Other Hands began with The Return of Conan (1957; exp vt Conan the Avenger 1968), revised for Gnome Press by L Sprague de Camp and published as a collaboration. Nyberg wrote about his first Conan pastiche (and plans for further novelettes) in "Conan and Myself" (January 1959 ERBania #6), and also published the essay "Conan Undesexed" (May 1961 Amra) with de Camp.
