Pseudonym of US author Daniel Ehrenhaft (?   -    ), almost all of whose work has been for the Young Adult market, those books written under his own name not being fantastic. As Parker, he wrote the Countdown Alternate World sequence of twelve novels, published at monthly intervals during 1999, beginning with January (1998) and ending with December (1999). On 1 January 1999, a Disaster reduces the world's population to those nineteen years old and younger. The battle to prevent the End of the World shifts, not perhaps entirely easily, between adventure and Eschatology, with clear implications that the ultimate battle is between good and evil (see Religion).
