Pinter, Jason
Entry updated 12 February 2024. Tagged: Author.
(1979- ) US editor and author, active in the latter capacity from the publication of The Mark (2007), the first volume in his Henry Parker series of nonfantastic detective thrillers [not listed below] which shares some generic features but should not be confused with John Connolly's Charlie Parker series. After a fantasticated tale for younger children, Zeke Bartholomew: SuperSpy (2011), Pinter is of sf interest for the Near Future Past Crimes (2024), set in a 2040 world where the wealthy – in this case Americans – normally retreat to Virtual Reality networks, one of the more popular being the eponymous entertainment, which allows vicarious participation in real crimes. The plot thickens around an ancient murder whose resolution may expose elements of the power structure of a corporatized world. [JC]
