Science Stories

US Digest-size magazine. Four bimonthly issues, October 1953 to April 1954. The first was published by Bell Publications, Chicago, the rest by Palmer Publications, Evanston; edited by Raymond A Palmer and Bea Mahaffey. Science Stories was effectively a continuation of Other Worlds. It printed no notable fiction, and continued much in the same vein as Other Worlds with material by S J Byrne (as John Bloodstone) and Richard S Shaver. It was, however, nicely illustrated by Hannes Bok, Virgil Finlay and others. Universe Science Fiction was a companion magazine and it was the numeration of Universe that Other Worlds adopted when Universe changed its title back to Other Worlds in 1955. [PN/MA]
