(? - ) US journalist and author, known for nonfiction on cooking, including Cooking Dirty: A Story of Life, Sex, Love and Death in the Kitchen (2009). His first novel, A Private Little War (2013), is sf, a Space Opera set on a planet ripe for human exploitation (see Colonization of Other Worlds), though the indigenous culture must be fractured in order to justify the takeover (no serious consideration of anything like a Prime Directive is entertained); the fate of the human expedition to the planet Iaxo is grim. Tales from the Radiation Age (2013 ebook) is a deliberately pulpish scamp hegira through the ruins of a Post-Holocaust balkanized America; the cast is large. The Young Adult Children of the Flying City (2022) includes flying Cities and Airships in its rendering of a Steampunk world. [JC]
