(? - ) US author, mostly of paranormal romances of little direct sf interest, though some of her tales competently incorporate sf into the surge, an example being the Near Future Body Electric (2002), whose disaffected female protagonist creates an AI whose personality inhabits a Cyberpunk-inflected Virtual Reality. Very little of the Vampire Companion Universe series of linked tales – beginning with The Companion (2005) and moving to a different protagonist in continuations starting with One With the Night (2007) – makes use of the sf toolkit; though the vampire protagonist of One with the Darkness (2008), which begins the DaVinci Time Travel subseries, does make use of Leonardo da Vinci's Time Machine in an attempt to retrieve a long-dead mortal lover. Further volumes in this subseries, however, water down the sf element. [JC]
