(1879-1962) UK journalist and author, whose short fiction, including some tales with sf elements, was assembled as When Men Talk Truth and Other Stories (coll 1934) and Stranger Than Truth: Best Short Stories (coll 1947); several of them deal traditionally with the occult, though the supernal being encountered in "The Planchette Laughs" may be an Alien mentor.
