(? - ) US engineer, in military service after World War Two and subsequently with Lockheed Missiles and Space, and author. The driving principle shaping most of his work seems to be the need for high Technology solutions to world problems such as Overpopulation and Climate Change, couched in stories, whose focus on individual Heroes typical of the Hard SF mode occasionally generates a sense of undue facility. His first novel, Man Over Mind: Control of the Galaxy Rests with the Minds – Until One Man Rises Against Them (2001), has a Space Opera element that has been stripped from his main endeavour, the Near FuturePacification of Earth sequence, beginning with The Pacification of Earth: A U.W. Marine Conquers and Reforms the World (2008; vt American Revolt: The Pacification of Earth Book 1 2009), in which a gifted family ultimate governs the stressed planet. [JC]
