Wellington, David
Entry updated 3 April 2023. Tagged: Author.
(1971- ) US author who began to publish work of genre interest with "Chuy and the Fish" in The Undead (anth 2005) edited by Elijah Hall and D L Snell; also writes as D Nolan Clark, a pseudonym restricted to his sf. Most of Wellington's work has been horror, with an emphasis on Vampires, Werewolves and Zombies (see Horror in SF), his first series, the Frostbite sequence beginning with Frostbite: A Werewolf Tale (2009; vt Cursed: A Werewolf Tale 2010) being typical. Of some sf interest is the Jim Chapel Missions Technothriller sequence comprising Chimera (2013), The Hydra Protocol (2014) and The Cyclops Initiative (2016), the latter two tales being set in a Near Future threatened by cyberwars between America and Russia. Positive (2015), a Young Adult singleton set in a Near Future Dystopian America where adolescents potentially infected with a Zombie virus (see Pandemic) are isolated in camps.
The Silence Trilogy comprising Forsaken Skies (2016), Forgotten Worlds (2017) and Forbidden Suns (2017), all as by D Nolan Clark, is a Space Opera set in an epically conceived Solar System threatened by an Alien Invasion. The protagonist, and his band of variously talented sidekicks, fight back; as is typical with Military SF, battles are described in detail. [JC]
