Zahorski, Kenneth J

(1939-    ) US academic (a professor of English), author, editor and critic who began to publish work of genre interest with the well-received Fantasy reprint Anthology The Fantastic Imagination (anth 1977; vt The Fantastic Imagination: An Anthology of High Fantasy 1977) edited with Robert H Boyer, with whom he edited several more such compilations [see Checklist below]. These include the nonfiction Fantasists on Fantasy (anth 1984), assembling writings by eighteen authors from George MacDonald to Susan Cooper about their worlds and worldbuilding. Zahorski also collaborated with Boyer and Marshall B Tymn on the important reference work Fantasy Literature: A Core Collection and Reference Guide (1979). A solo work of interest is Peter Beagle (1988), a study of Peter S Beagle written for Starmont House. [DRL]
