It is saddening to report the death of Michael Bishop after long illness and hospice care, on 13 November 2023, the day after his seventy-eighth birthday. His many awards included two Nebulas, for the novella "The Quickening" (1982) and the novel No Enemy But Time (1983).

John Clute tweeted soon after this death was confirmed by the family: "RIP Michael BISHOP a grave marvellous writer and man. Tragedy battered him and Jeri Bishop. They remained radiant."
