(1952-    ) US author and editor, married to Terry J Erdmann; long associated with the Star Trek franchise, first working in the Paramount Pictures consumer licensing division and from 2006 with the publishing division of CBS Consumer Products (formerly Viacom Consumer Products), which oversees the many Star Trek Ties published by Pocket Books. She was a judge and co-editor – with Dean Wesley Smith and others – of the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Original Anthology sequence, which published the winners and runners-up in a competition for new franchise stories by fans; she contributed one story, "The Girl Who Controlled Gene Kelly's Feet", to the first volume Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (anth 1998) edited with John J Ordover and Dean Wesley Smith. Block has also written fiction set in the worlds of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the latter in collaboration with Terry J Erdman. Nonfiction titles, all tied to the Star Trek universe and all co-written with Erdmann, began with Star Trek Deep Space Nine Companion (2000) [for others see Checklist below]. [DRL]
