(? - ) UK author who began to publish work of genre interest with "Open House" in Ghostlight for Spring 2019. She is of sf interest for the Stranded sequence beginning with The Stranded (2022), which is set on a cruise ship that, quarantined for four decades after what seems to have been World War Three, has become a Ship of Fools featuring a grotesquely distorted social system based on neoliberal models of justified greed. Barred from landfall in a balkanized American travesty of Pastoral, the Arcadia may be stuck forever. The protagonists of the tale rebel against this immurement, though the events depicted in The Only Way Out: The Rebellion Has Begun (2024), as personalities clash in the night, do not seem to augur anything resembling a mature truce.
Daniels should not be confused with the UK playwright Sarah Daniels (1956- ). [JC]
