(1925-2005) US postal worker, fan, book dealer and publisher, active in Fandom from 1948 until his death; he participated in the amateur press associations (see APA) FAPA and OMPA, and in the Science Fiction Oral History Association. His Michigan-based Small Press Misfit Press published genre reference works including several editions [see Checklist below] of his A History of The Hugo, Nebula, and International Fantasy Awards (1971) with Donald Franson. The title's promised coverage of the Hugo, Nebula and International Fantasy Award winners and known finalists was expanded to cover the World Fantasy Award for the Advent: Publishers title The Hugo, Nebula and World Fantasy Awards (1998) as by DeVore alone. Other DeVore/Misfit Press titles included Barry McGhan's Science Fiction and Fantasy Pseudonyms (1971 chap; var revs to 1979).

DeVore was inducted into the First Fandom Hall of Fame in 2005. [DRL]
