(?   -    ) US child psychologist and author whose first series, the Guards of the Shadowlands sequence beginning with Sanctum (2012), is Young Adult fantasy infused with romance elements. The Of Metal and Wishes sequence beginning with Of Metal and Wishes (2014) achieves some Equipoisal frisson by emplacing a ghost story in an Alternate World Asia as a savage War threatens;but who has more recently published works of sf interest. The Servants of Fate sequence beginning with Marked (2015) again sets genres against each other; in this case, the young protagonist, who lives in a devastated Near Future Boston after an Ecological collapse, moonlights as a guide to the newly dead, ferrying them to the underworld. And the Scan sequence comprising Scan (2014) and Burn (2015), set on an Earth threatened by an Alien culture which may have been exercising Secret Master roles for centuries, follows its young protagonist in a search for the Technology invented by his dead father that may save Homo sapiens from slavery. The Impostor Queen (2016) is fantasy, and starts the eponymous series. [JC]
