(1946-2021) US illustrator and author, in the former capacity winning a Hugo award for best fan artist in 1989 (see Fandom) as Diana Gallagher Wu (she was then married to William F Wu). As an author she has concentrated almost exclusively on Young Adult Ties to Television series like Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (1996-2003) created by Nell Scovill Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003) created by Joss Whedon and Charmed (1999-2006) [these titles are not included in the Checklist below]. Titles of sf interest include most prominently three ties to the Star Trek universe (see Star Trek and associated entries): Arcade (1995) and Day of Honor: Honor Bound (1997) for the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Young Adult subseries, and The Chance Factor (1997) with her then husband Martin R Burke in the Star Trek: Voyager Starfleet Academy subseries. Shadows (2003) is a tie to the Television seriesSmallville (2001-2011).
Gallagher's only singleton, The Alien Dark (1990), is a Space Opera structured around an Alien civilization's First Contact experience of an apparently extinct human race. [JC]
