(? - ) UK author who began to publish work of genre interest with "Haecceity" in La Femme (anth 2014) edited by Ian Whates. His sf series, the Oligarchy sequence beginning with A Family War (2016), is set in a high-Technology Dystopian fairly-distant Near Future ruled by an arrogant Pariah Elite of the long-lived (see Immortality) whose mega-corporation becomes only more despotic as time passes; soon enough, resistance groups begin to flourish. Hotston's first singleton, Tangle's Game (2019), moderates some of the extremities of the series, depicting a Near Future world governed by surveillance capitalism within the frame of an invasive Media Landscape from whose "blockchain" net no one seems able to escape; but there is hope, though the protagonist must become a fugitive to discover it.
