(1961- ) UK author and critic, a contributing editor of Starburst 1984-2001, publishing various essays and reviews in that magazine. Howe is best known for his many nonfiction Ties to Doctor Who (1963-current), beginning with Doctor Who: The Sixties (1992), shortly followed by Doctor Who: The Handbook: The Fourth Doctor (1992), both written with Mark Stammers and Stephen James Walker; Howe is an acknowledged authority on the Doctor Who universe. Also of note is Howe's work as editorial director of the small press Telos Publishing, which received a 2006 World Fantasy Award in the special non-professional category and has also won two British Fantasy Awards as best small press in 2010 and 2011.
Howe has also published some fiction [see Checklist below], beginning with "The Dream" in the Flash Fiction compilation Drabble Who? (anth 1993) edited by himself and David B Wake, and including three novellas set in venues spun off from the Doctor Who universe. Shorter fiction, mostly Horror, is assembled in Talespinning (coll 2011). [DRL]
