Klima, John

(1971-    ) US publisher, computer programmer, editor and librarian initially known in sf circles for publishing Electric Velocipede (which see) from Fall 2001 to issue #27 in Winter 2013, all under his Spilt Milk Press imprint. As well as editing this Amateur Magazine – later an Online Magazine – he contributed a handful of essays and reviews. He received a Hugo for Electric Velocipede as best Fanzine in 2009.

Klima has also edited four Anthologies. The gimmick of the Original Anthology Logorrhea: Good Words Make Good Stories (anth 2007) was that each contribution was inspired by a different winning word from the US Scripps National Spelling Bee; one of these tales, by Theodora Goss, won a World Fantasy Award as best short story. Happily Ever After (anth 2011) assembles retold fairy tales, mostly reprints. [For Twice-Told see The Encyclopedia of Fantasy under links below.] Glitter & Mayhem (anth 2013), edited with Lynne M Thomas and Michael Damian Thomas, has a speculative nightclub theme. As indicated by the title, The Best of Electric Velocipede (anth 2014) is a selection from that magazine, a substantial volume opening with Klima's "A Brief History of Electric Velocipede" plus an introduction by Shane Jones.
