(1969-    ) UK editor, Games developer and author, in Sweden from 1997, beginning to publish work of genre interest with "Coming for to Carry You Home" in Exuberance for June 1992; he also signs his name Steve Savile, and has written as by Alex Archer (a house name used for the Rogue Angel sequence), Ronan Frost and Logan Savile. Early work was assembled as Icarus Descending (coll 1999 chap) and Similar Monsters (coll 2001). Some early fantasy and horror novels (see Horror-In-Sf), beginning with Secret Life of Colors (2000), and some tales for the Warhammer universe (see Warhammer 40,000) and other similar Ties to Shared Worlds, were followed by the Equipoisal Greyfriar's Gentleman's Club series beginning with The Hollow Earth (2007 chap), in which a Pariah Elite that has been tormenting a Steampunk version of London is itself threatened by demons out of the Hollow Earth. The central character, a fallen angel, haunts the runes of the great City, hoping to find the gate back to heaven; echoes of Iain Sinclair's profoundly ironized mythologization of London are here detectable. A similar tonality infuses the Ogmios sequence beginning with Silver (2010). [JC]
