Scarlet – The Film Magazine

Entry updated 4 April 2017. Tagged: Publication.

US letter-size saddle-stapled Cinema magazine printed on middle-grade paper. Publisher and editor: Harry Long. Ten numbered, undated issues, 2008 to 2013. Publication schedule irregular.

This follow-up to Scarlet Street magazine was founded by former staff member Long – in company with others connected to the previous title – as a Semiprozine which focused more closely on classic Horror and sf cinema than its predecessor. Films covered included The Lost World (1925) and The Phantom of the Opera (1925), along with such cinema notables as Willis H O'Brien. Unfortunately publisher Long was severely injured in a house fire in the winter of 2013/2014, which also destroyed the majority of the print run of Scarlet #11; he plans to resume publication of the title when sufficiently recovered, possibly as a Webzine.
