(?   -    ) US author much of whose work samples familiar (and sometimes less familiar) figures from Pulp literature, usually French, both fantastic and nonfantastic, in complicatedly juggled narratives. Most of his work manipulates the networks of association of Fantastika, though the sf element in this weaving of story-types is not often dominant. The Frankenstein sequence beginning with The Quest of Frankenstein (2015) mashes Mary Shelley's original Frankenstein Monster into the world of H P Lovecraft, but in this case the monster is unredeemably villainous. The Last Days of Atlantis sequence beginning with The Last Days of Atlantis 1: Soul of Soroe (2020) sequels, perhaps rather distantly, Charles Lomon and Pierre-Barthélmy Gheusi's Les Atlantes, aventures des temps légendaires (1905; trans Brian Stableford as The Last Days of Atlantis 2015).

Of some sf interest is the Irma Vep sequence beginning with Irma Vep and the Great Brain of Mars (2019), in which a Vampire-like Alien from Mars, reminiscent of a similar character from the work of Gustave Le Rouge, transmogrifies Earth into a planet of horrors. Irma Vep must tackle the challenges offered. [JC]
