(? - ) UK author whose Greenhollow sequence beginning with Silver in the Wood (2019), parallels the increasingly intense emotional entanglement of two young men attached to an ancient wood and the spirits or figures within that wood; the influence of Robert Holdstock's Mythago Wood (1986) may be detected; she won the 2021 Astounding Award for the sequence.
Tesh is of more direct sf interest for Some Desperate Glory (2023), initially a Young Adult tale set in a large Space Station orbiting an Earth destroyed by an Alien Invasion. The teenaged protagonist must pursue her brother into interstellar Space Opera country, here complexly conceived as a venue for adults (see Sense of Wonder; SF Megatext) and richly executed. This book won a Hugo award as best novel. [JC]
