(1946-2008) US make-up effects artist for both Cinema and Television, who initially studied painting and sculpture at the University of Virginia. He often worked with the film directors Tim Burton, James Cameron and Steven Spielberg. Winston excelled in the creation of convincingly unpleasant Aliens and Monsters, memorably including the killer Robots of the Terminator franchise.

Television work included Manimal (1983), Creature (1998) and The Flash (1990-1991), for the last of which Winston created the eponymous Superhero's costume. [DRL]
