Belcher, R S

Entry updated 27 July 2026. Tagged: Author.

(1967-2026) US author who began to publish fiction of genre interest with the novelette "Orphans" in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 9 (anth 2006) edited by Paula M Block, Elisa J Kassin and Dean Wesley Smith, an Original Anthology Tied to the Star Trek franchise. He also published one story as Rod Belcher. He is perhaps best known for the occult/weird Western historical-fantasy sequence Golgotha, based in part on the Tarot pack and opening with his first novel The Six-Gun Tarot (2013) [see Checklist below]. The Nightwise universe series beginning with Nightwise (2015) is Urban Fantasy [see The Encyclopedia of Fantasy under links below].

Of more direct sf interest is Men in Black: International (2019), the authorized novelization of Men in Black: International (2019), fourth film in the Men in Black franchise. The standalone Space Opera The Queen's Road (2020) entertainingly takes the road-movie trope into space: with access to the titular road through Hyperspace, a hot-rod car can cruise the Galactic Lens and beyond. Our initially bewildered Earthman protagonist soon acquires a mentor, one of the interstellar highway's Rangers who accept a responsibility to guard the worlds from the scum of the universe, including ultimately a full scale Alien Invasion. Fast-paced action blends with Humour. [DRL]
