(1941-2025) US bibliographer, author and fan who compiled, solo and with others, various indexes for the New England Science Fiction Association (NESFA) – of which he was a founder member in 1967 – and its publishing division NESFA Press, where he was for many years the overseeing "Press Czar". These indexes include The N.E.S.F.A. Index to the Science Fiction Magazines and Original Anthologies, 1966 (1969 chap), 1967 (1968 chap), 1968 (1969 chap), 1969 (1970 chap), 1966-1970 (1971 chap), 1971-1972 (1973 chap) with Andrew Adams Whyte, 1973 (1974 chap) with Whyte, 1974 (1975 chap) with Whyte and George Flynn, 1975 (1976 chap) with Whyte, 1976 (1977 chap) with Whyte and Jerry Boyajian, 1977-1978 (1983 chap) with Whyte, 1979-1980 (1982 chap) with Whyte, 1981 (1982 chap) with Whyte, 1982 (1983 chap) with Whyte, 1983 (1984 chap) with Whyte, 1984 (1985 chap), 1985 (1986 chap), 1986 (1988 chap; rev 2008-current) and The N.E.S.F.A. Index to Short SF, 1987 (1989 chap). The NESFA Index was a communal project, with no specific editor named, so that listing all the indexes under Lewis's name is to some extent misleading, though it is understood that Lewis, whose involvement in New England Fandom was lifelong, was closely involved in all of them; they are listed here for convenience.

Other works included The Best of Astounding (anth 1978) as Tony Lewis, Concordance to Cordwainer Smith (1984 chap; exp rev 1989; exp rev 2000) and, most interestingly, An Annotated Bibliography of Recursive Science Fiction (1990 chap); Lewis is credited with the invention of the term Recursive SF. The nonfiction Space Travel (1997) was a collaboration with Ben Bova. [JC/GFl/DRL]
