(? - ) US biomedical engineer and author, often in collaboration with Nicholas Sanbury Smith, whose entry see for the joint Extinction Cycle: Dark Age sequence beginning with Extinction Shadow (2019). His other work is all solo. His first novel, which is like most of his work focused on heavily foregrounded action responses to planetary crises, is The God Organ (2014). His first series, Black Market DNA sequence beginning with Enhancement (2014), focuses on Medicine and connected threats to the world. The Tide sequence of Technothrillers beginning with The Tide (2015) features a team of "covert operatives" who combat terrorism and Mutants, and defend the world against Genetically Engineered Pandemics, like that featured in the first instalment, which dehumanizes (though it does not make into Zombies) its victims. The Eternal Frontier sequence beginning with Eternal Frontier (2016) is Space Opera, featuring galaxy-wide inimical Alien civilizations with advanced Weapons that threaten Earth. [JC]
