(1943- ) US publisher, editor and author who began to produce work of genre interest with the promotional pamphlet Daily Planet: "A World of News Every Day!" (1981 chap), a Tie purporting to be an issue of the titular newspaper from the Superman universe reporting events in the film Superman II (1980). The Aliens trio opening with Aliens for Breakfast (1988 chap) with Jonathan Etra is Children's SF in Humorous vein, of course featuring Aliens. Likewise the two Gemini Jack titles written with Terry Bisson – Be First in the Universe (2000) and Expiration Date: Never! (2002) – the first being a complicated caper involving two sets of Earth twins (one nice pair and one horrid pair) with Alien store-keeper Gemini Jack and his "U Rent All" stock of weird gadgets.
Quiver (2002) and Quicksilver (2005) are Young Adult historical fantasies, respectively reworking the Greek myths (see Mythology) of Atalanta and Hermes/Mercury as effective narratives. Damosel: In Which the Lady of the Lake Renders a Frank and Often Startling Account of Her Wondrous Life and Times (2008) similarly offers an unusual angle on the Arthurian canon. [DRL]
