(? - ) US poet and author who also writes as Megan Freeman. She is of sf interest for the Alone series beginning with the Young-Adult Alone (2021), this like its successor Away (2025) being a book-length narrative poem (see Poetry); the young protagonist of the first instalment awakens to find herself – through Magic or Holocaust – entirely alone in the world; the latter confirms that what America has slammed into is the latter. A Better Nightmare (2025), a singleton, is set in a Near-Future Dystopian world whose children, deemed to suffer universally from brain damage, are variously dealt with. Those thought sickest are raised in coercive Keeps. The story traces the realization of some of these children, as they discover their Superpowers, that they are in effect a Pariah Elite. [JC]
