(1969-    ) US author and book-packager, almost all of whose work has consisted of Ties to various enterprises, including (in chronological order) Spider-Man, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003), Star Trek, the Resident Evil (2004) film franchise, World of Warcraft (see Online Worlds) and Command & Conquer Tiberium Wars. His first significant work, however, was in Radio, as producer and co-host of The Chronic Rift, a New York talk show devoted to sf, where he was involved as producer and co-host in at least 100 episodes from 1990 to 1994. He began publishing work of genre interest with "An Evening in the Bronx with Venom" with John Gregory Betancourt, in The Ultimate Spider-Man (anth 1994) edited by Stan Lee, and has written a number of short stories since, almost always set in packaged worlds. His first novel, Gargantua (1998) as by K Robert Andreassi, which novelized the movie Gargantua (1998), was quick and competent; after several similarly efficient tales, he began writing Star Trek novels with Star Trek: The Next Generation: Diplomatic Implausibility (2001); at least a dozen similar Ties have followed, plus other volumes tied to other universes. In 2009 he received the Grandmaster Scribe Award for career achievement in media Ties. [JC]
